Canada Loves to Eat Ribs

If you live in in the Greater Toronto Area, chances are you’ve heard about Ribfest, a summer event that takes place on a weekend in a large park that features a lot of family entertainment like live stage performances, busking, amusement park-style rides, games, and of course, yummy and delicious ribs.

There are over twenty rib festivals taking place in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area. The ones listed below have free admission (though for some, donations are encouraged). Proceeds for many of these rib festivals goes towards charity.

July 7 – 9 – Markham Ribfest, 179 Enterprise Blvd

July 7 – 9 – Whitby Ribfest, Whitby Victoria Fields

July 13 – 16 – Mississauga Ribfest, Celebration Square

July 14 – 16 – Milton Ribfest – Milton Fair Grounds

July 21 – 23 – Richmond Hill Ribfest, Richmond Green Park

August 4 – 7 – Scarborough Ribfest, Thomson Memorial Park

August 5 – 7 – Stouffville Ribfest, Memorial Park Stouffville

August 11 – 13 – Woodbridge Ribfest, Woodbridge Fairgrounds

August 11 – 13 – Hamilton Ribfest, Gage Park Hamilton

August 18 – 20 – Oshawa Ribfest, Lakeview Park

August 26 – 28 – Aurora Ribfest, Machell Park

September 1 – 4 – Burlington Ribfest (Canada’s Largest Rib Fest), Spencer Smith Park

Each festival usually have at least ten rib vendors with their own take on sauce and cooking techniques to make a delicious rib. So take your family and chow down!
